Why a sixpence?

As we're sure you're aware, all Charlotte Mills Bridal Shoes feature a sixpence coin inside each left shoe, we thought creating our own bespoke jewellery line would be the perfect addition to our CM bride's wardrobe.

A little history... the Sixpence was first used in Britain in 1551, with the last year of use being 1967.  The sixpence is prevalent throughout the history of weddings. As it was originally given to the bride to wear in her shoe for good luck. Carrying a coin on your wedding day was thought to attract wealth, good luck and prosperity in marriage.

The tradition of a sixpence still carries on today as a symbol of good luck. As well as the UK, many other countries follow this tradition with their own interpretations.

We'd love to know what you think of our new jewellery, please drop us a DM on Instagram. Hope you love them as much as we do!
