A look at why we introduced Mia Wine, the growing appetite for colour in bridal and the bride we created her for.
There is something about a beautiful pair of bridal shoes that can completely change the feeling of a wedding look.
For years, our Mia silhouette has been one of the styles our brides come back to time and time again. We have seen her in ivory, in blue, and in so many different wedding days, venues and bridal looks.
So when we started thinking about where Mia could go next, we knew we wanted to do something a little different.
Something richer. Something more unexpected. Something for the bride who loves traditional bridal style, but wants to put her own fashion-forward twist on it.
And that is where Mia Wine came in.
In a rich, sumptuous wine satin, she is romantic without feeling traditional, bold without taking over the entire look, and designed with the autumn and winter bride particularly in mind.
Why Wine?
We have been watching the shift in bridal colour palettes for some time.
While ivory will always have its place, brides are becoming increasingly confident when it comes to bringing colour into their wedding day. Burgundy, deep reds, wine tones and richer autumnal shades have become such a beautiful part of the modern bridal palette.
And we wanted to be part of that.
Instead of traditional ivory, you have this beautiful deep wine satin that gives the entire silhouette a completely different personality.
And, importantly, it feels like something you could wear long after the wedding day too.
The Mia You Already Know, In a New Shade
We didn't want to reinvent Mia. We wanted to give her a new mood.
Mia Wine features our signature pointed toe and classic slingback silhouette, finished with a matching asymmetric bow across the toe.
The 65mm slim-flare heel gives you a little lift while keeping the heel feeling elegant and wearable.
And then there’s the secret only you know is there.
The Silver Sixpence
Every pair of Charlotte Mills shoes contains a silver sixpence, hidden inside the shoe.
It is our little nod to the traditional rhyme:
Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue and a silver sixpence in her shoe.
It is one of the details that makes a pair of Charlotte Mills shoes feel so personal.
Mia Wine also features our signature rhyme lovingly embossed into the sole, so the tradition is there with you as you walk through your wedding day.
Made for Autumn & Winter Weddings
There is something particularly beautiful about a wine bridal shoe in the colder months.
Imagine Mia Wine with an ivory satin dress, deep burgundy bridesmaid dresses, rich seasonal florals or velvet details. Against a classic white or ivory gown, that deep wine shade becomes a beautiful little moment of colour.
And it does not have to be reserved for the wedding day itself.
Wine is one of those colours that transitions beautifully beyond bridal. Pair them with a little black dress for a winter wedding guest look, wear them with tailoring for an evening event, or bring them out for anniversaries and special occasions.
We love the idea that your wedding shoes do not have to disappear into the back of your wardrobe once the confetti has settled.
