Wide Fit Bridal Shoes - Now Across Our Best-Selling StylesWide Fit Bridal Shoes - Now Across Our Best-Selling Styles

A note from Charlotte on the expansion we have been working towards for a very long time.

I have wanted to write this blog post for a while.

Not because expanding our wide fit collection is a box to tick, or because the numbers told us to do it - but because I have spent years reading your messages, your emails, your reviews, and one request has come up more than almost any other.

"Do you do wide fit in the Mia Pearl? In the Olive Ivory? In the Katie?"

And for a long time, the honest answer was: not quite. We had some wide fit options, but nowhere near enough, and not across the styles that our brides love most. That never sat right with me.

Because here is the thing about bridal shoes. They are not just shoes. They carry you through the most significant day of your life. They are in every photograph. They are the thing you slip on when you are getting ready with your best friends and your mum is trying not to cry. They are the last thing you put on before you become someone's wife.

Every bride deserves a pair that fits. Not a pair she squeezes into and spends the day ignoring. Not a pair she kicks off by 3pm. A pair that feels, from the very first moment she puts them on, like they were made for her.

That is what we have built. And I could not be more proud of it.

Why Getting This Right Mattered More Than Getting It Done Quickly

I want to be upfront about something. We could have expanded our wide fit range much sooner. We could have taken our existing styles and widened them slightly and called it done.

We did not do that, because that is not how a wide fit shoe should work.

A genuinely well-made wide fit bridal shoe needs to be built on a wide fit last - that is the mould the entire shoe is constructed around. Everything from the toe box to the heel counter to the way the lining sits against your foot needs to be right for a wider foot. Otherwise you end up with a shoe that gaps at the heel, bags around the ankle, or simply does not hold its shape the way it should.

We took the time to do it properly. I am so glad we did.

The Styles - Wide Fit Versions of the Ones You Already Love

We went straight to our best-sellers - the styles that brides have been choosing for years - and we rebuilt them properly in wide fit. The Mia Pearl. The Katie Pearl. The Olive Ivory. The London Pearl. The Jazzy Pearl. The styles that appear in more wedding albums than I could ever count, now available in a fit that truly works for you.

If you have been watching one of our styles and wondering whether it would ever come in wide fit, there is a very good chance your moment has finally arrived. Head to the wide fit collection and see what is waiting for you.

One of our real brides - the wonderful Dr Charlotte Mills, who happens to share our name - chose the Olive Ivory Mid Height as her bridal shoe. When we asked how it felt to be a Charlotte Mills bride wearing Charlotte Mills shoes, she said: "Meant to be." We feel exactly the same way about this collection.

The Part I Really Want You to Know

There are two things that go into every single pair of Charlotte Mills shoes - wide fit or otherwise - that I am genuinely proud of, and that I want every bride to know about before she shops.

The first is our cushioned insole technology. Every Charlotte Mills wide fit bridal shoe is built with a cushioned insole that is designed and tested for up to 12 hours of wear. Twelve hours. That is getting ready in the morning, walking down the aisle, standing for photographs, sitting through dinner, and dancing until someone finally turns the lights on. Our brides tell us they wear their shoes from the very first moment to the very last one - without taking them off. That is not an accident. It is something we have worked incredibly hard to achieve, and it goes into every wide fit style without exception.

The second is something a little more special. Every pair of Charlotte Mills shoes contains a silver sixpence - a nod to the old bridal tradition of a sixpence in your shoe, for good luck on your wedding day. It is a small detail, but one that means a great deal to me. When you slip on your Charlotte Mills wide fit shoes on your wedding morning, that sixpence is there. A tiny piece of tradition, hidden away just for you.

Something new. Something comfortable. And something lucky. I think that is a rather good combination.

A Few Things Worth Knowing Before You Shop

Order earlier than you think you need to. Our wide fit styles are available in limited sizes, and bridal shoes should ideally be ordered at least three months before your wedding to allow time for any hem alterations to your dress. Wide fit styles in popular sizes will sell quickly - do not leave it to the last minute.

Your feet will likely swell on your wedding day. This is completely normal, and it is one of the reasons a wide fit shoe can be a brilliant choice even if you do not always buy wide fit. A little extra space is never a bad thing on a day as long and full as a wedding.

If you are not sure which style is right for you, we are here. Our team knows these shoes inside out and we love helping brides find their perfect pair. Reach out any time.

From Me to You

I started Charlotte Mills because I believed brides deserved beautiful shoes that were also genuinely comfortable - shoes with 12-hour comfort built in as standard, a silver sixpence tucked inside for luck, and a fit that feels like it was made for them.

That belief has not changed. What has changed is that we can now offer it properly to wide fit brides too - across the styles they have been asking for, built the way they deserve to be built.

This expansion is for every bride who has come to our site, fallen in love with a style, and then discovered it was not available in her fit. We hear you. We always did. We just needed to get it right before we got it to you.

I hope when you put them on, it feels worth the wait.

With love, Charlotte x
