One of our lovely brides Claire and her husband Dan's wedding was featured on Save The Date, the photos are beautiful so we just had to share our favourite bits with you!
Claire explains, “We focused on making each part of the wedding personal to us and memorable for our guests. We only had 100 guests as we wanted to keep it intimate. I always wanted a Spring wedding as it is my favourite time of the year, so that’s where it started. We married at Prestwold Hall in Loughborough and the venue and its grounds are truly stunning. We did visit other venues but we fell in love straightaway with Prestwold Hall – we both looked at each other and said this is the one! I wanted lots of flowers by florist Michele Gledhill as the main styling. My styling started with our invitations – our wedding stationery was pastel floral watercolour with rose gold and a hint of German, as Daniel is German. Overall, our colour scheme was pastel Spring colours with rose gold and glass details. Our wedding was floral, romantic and elegant with a touch of German.”
“We decorated our venue with lots of flowers in classic tall glass vases, along our tables, in every room and even outside. Our wedding favours were a rose gold bottle opener key, and the key was also on our wedding stationery. The kids had a little goody bag with disposable cameras in and a list of what photos to get. We also offered the ladies roll-up pumps for tired feet in the evening and we gave our guests pamper boxes in the toilets. Daniel and I exchanged gifts on the day – I bought Dan a watch and he bought me and Ruby a puzzle that we made together and it revealed a special message. I also got an engraved mirror. A massive personal touch was Dan giving Ruby a ring in the ceremony to show his love and commitment to her as well as to me. The ring is engraved with the date and a message. We also wrote our own vows for the ceremony.”
“My shoes were Charlotte Mills, and they were my Something Old and Something New. They contained a lucky sixpence and had engraved writing on the bottom. Dan also had the same sixpence as his cufflinks. My wedding dress was by Mori Lee bought in Dressplace Nottingham and it was a fitted mermaid gown featuring lots of beading, an illusion back and layers of ruffle at the bottom. Dan wore a light blue tailor-maid suit by Reiss. The best man, ushers and page boy wore navy suits with braces while the bridesmaids wore blush pink Alfred Sung long dresses. Ruby, my daughter, had her ivory dress and bouquet to made to look just like mine.”
“For our wedding breakfast, we enjoyed pea and mint soup with sourdough croutons for starters, 20-hour ale braised blade of beef with celeriac and potato gratin for the main, followed by dark chocolate delice and honeycomb for dessert. Our evening buffet was a mixture of German food. We had Bellini for our drinks reception along with champagne and wine throughout the day. We had a band called The Indie Killers, they were great and got everyone dancing! We always said we wanted a really good indie band. We also had a harpist for our ceremony which was very romantic.”
“Our advice would be try and find time together and talk about your decisions about your big day – it should be both what you want for your special day. Dan and I made all the decisions together, it really helps and takes the pressure off the bride. Also on the day spend as much time together as possible it really does go so quickly.”
