Amy Brown #cmbride #charlottemillsbride

It was a good day when one of our gorgeous brides Amy dropped these photos into our inbox. Her not so traditional wedding was definitely worth sharing with you... Hope you enjoy hearing about her day as much as we did!
Details of the day:
Our day was an outdoor rustic handmade wedding. We wanted to make it as fun, creative and handmade as possible. We had handmade signs you everywhere as my husband is very good at calligraphy. An outdoor ceremony in which guests sat on Haybales and they all enjoyed our handmade games and ice cream from the handmade ice cream booth we made. I've been to many weddings in which I've noticed after the ceremony, and between the meal, guests can get a little board. We took a huge risk having our whole wedding outside as we had no under cover or any kind of back up if the weather was bad. It paid off massively, all our guests loved it. The weather was incredible, the sun shone all day. The guests all enjoyed the handmade games we provided to entertain.

Dress:
The dress is called Lily by designer House of Mooshki, they specialise in short tea length dresses, which I bought from the beautiful boutique Dotty Taylor Bridal in Holmfirth. I tried on so many dresses and found the only style which suited me was short dresses, so I had to find the perfect short dress. As soon as I tried on the Lily dress I knew it was the one for me.

Flowers:
The award winning Campbell's in Sheffield. I wanted pretty but very wild natural flowers, lots of pinks, whites and greenery. I wanted the "just picked" look.
Bridesmaid:
I had 4 bridesmaids. My sister, husbands sister and my two best friends. Our wedding was far from traditional so didn't want traditional dresses. I wanted different mix match dresses, in different shades of blush pinks and different lengths. I wanted each bridesmaid to feel and look amazing so they each picked a dress which suited them but still looked good as a collection. The dresses were from various high street shops.

Venue:
we really struggled to find a venue to suit our style and budget. We didn't want a princess wedding or a nice hotel wedding. We wanted something rustic which fitted out style. We scoured the internet for wedding venues in our area, but nothing was suitable. I found The Woodman Inn, this was our last opportunity. It's a country pub inn, in a quaint little village of Thunderbridge near Huddersfield. We took one step inside and fell in love. The venue was a blank canvas for our wedding style, but we loved the stone windows and wooden beams which were the old original features of the Woodman. We also had the most amazing wedding co-ordinator. Gave us the wedding of our dreams. Let us create our rustic outdoor wedding.
Cake:
The cake was provided by Jeanette at Booootiful Cakes. We wanted a semi naked cake with out flowers on the front. Pretty, simple and rustic to fit with our theme. The cake was that nice, our guests had finished all of the cake before I even had chance to have a piece.

Photographer & Videographer:
Being a photographer myself I knew I wanted the best photographer. I had followed Melia Melia photography for around 6 years, as soon as I saw their work I knew they were my wedding photographers. Every single image of theirs just incredibly touching and beautiful. James did not disappoint what so ever. It was my dream to have our wedding filmed and have a videographer, by the end we had totally exceeded our budget. I was so gutted, but thought we have the best photographer it would be fine. On the morning of our wedding I opened a gift from my husband to be. He had organised a videographer to come film out day. With a little help from family and friends he managed to book Shortman Video productions. I got my dream wedding video!!

Shoes:
I chose the blond rose shoes. I found it incredibly difficult to find these shoes. I cannot wear heels at all so I needed beautiful flat shoes but also my dress was short, so I needed my feet to look amazing. The dress was also Blush, so didn't want any ordinary ivory shoes as they wouldn't look right. After finding these shoes online, I went to your shop in Uppermill to try them on and fell in love!! Just so so beautiful and not boring typical bridal shoes. The pink sparkle on the shoes were perfect.
I do fine these shoes incredibly versatile to wear, I have worn them a few times since my wedding day. They instantly dress up a nice pair of jeans and top. Or look perfect with a maxi dress in the summer.

Advice:
We wanted our wedding to be as personal as possible so made everything ourselves. I know not ever bride is an expert wedding DIY-er, but doing little bits yourself saves huge amounts! I was amazed at the price of certain things, especially invites! As nice as you want your invites, and they give your guests a feel for your type of wedding, that's money spent which isn't actually part of your day. Spend money on things guests will enjoy on your actual wedding day.
We managed to save money before and during the wedding process, which I am incredibly glad about. Many people want this big perfect wedding day, which costs the earth and end up having to pay for years afterwards. I realised afterwards you don't have to pay huge amount to have a perfect day. It is one day, don't start married life in debt. Once the wedding is over, you have other things in life to enjoy, maybe starting a family, buying a house or enjoying a holiday and few luxuries.
I did find that when you look back at your day, guests aren't really bothered how many flowers you have or the size of your cake, they are your family and friends to help you celebrate! My family wouldn't have cared if i served them a piece of Victoria sponge from the supermarket. You end up having an amazing time regardless, with your nearest and dearest.
